At the end of March, we begin the harvest of our Valencia Late oranges, which have the latest harvest in the calendar. This variety is now entering its period of optimum maturity which, if the conditions are right, can last right through until almost the beginning of summer.
The Valencia Late is characteristically a sweet, juicy fruit, with a sharper acidity than the Late Navel variety. The Valencia Late is medium sized with a thin, bright orange peel.
Although, with hardly any seeds, this variety makes a good fruit-bowl option, throughout the world it is most widely used to produce juice. The high juice content of its pulp, its attractive colour, and its exceptional flavour all mean this is the ideal variety to make a refreshing orange juice.
